We were interviewed in January about “productive meetings”. The article is titled Time to Talk – getting the most from your meetings. We are one of several who briefly discuss our tactics for making meetings more productive.
I made a comment that “meetings are like menus” that has resulted in some positive feedback. Large menus that offer everything make your dining decisions difficult. The same is true of meetings. It’s hard to keep people’s focused attention for very long so a big agenda requiring numerous decisions will likely result in poor decision making. Often its an attitude of make a decision to finish and get out of the meeting. If the decision has long term implications restrict the meeting to a single topic with only one decision to be made. You’ll likely get fresh, clear, thoughtful debate.
Enjoy the article above. It’s always interesting to see different perspectives.
